Transportation of hazardous cargo – secure and safe
Transportation of hazardous cargo – secure and safe
Transportation of hazardous cargo is a special kind of transfer, which requires a high level of responsibility from the carrier. The GOBALTRANS agency provides services for transportation of cargo of increased risk.
We will:
- arrange all types of transfer of hazardous cargo: by road, by sea, by railway;
- prepare all the documents necessary for transportation of hazardous materials;
- obtain a permission for international transportation of hazardous cargo from the Ministry of Transport;
- coordinate the routes with the official authorities;
- provide specialized vehicles for transportation of hazardous cargo by road;
- appoint escorting staff with applicable permissions for handling hazardous materials.
According to UN classification, 9 general classes of dangerous goods have been identified:
- Explosives.
- Compressed, liquefied, dissolved or chilled gases.
- Flammable liquids or liquid mixtures.
- Flammable, spontaneously igniting solids.
- Oxidizing agents and peroxides.
- Toxic substances and contaminants.
- Radioactive substances.
- Acid substances and substances which may cause corrosion.
- Others.
In total, there are more that 3000 substances classified as hazardous. Transportation of hazardous cargo must be arranged with respect to all safety requirements. Transfer of such materials is effected in different ways, mostly by road. Trucks are used for short-distance transportation of hazardous substances.
Railway transportation of hazardous cargo is relatively cheap and convenient. Dangerous materials are loaded in separate trailer wagons, marked and sealed if necessary. Railway is used both for long-distance and international transportation of materials of increased risk.
Sea shipping of hazardous cargo is effected by specially prepared vessels. Only properly trained specialists are allowed to work with hazardous materials. Shipping can be carried out both in containers by cargo vessels and by special vessels (chemical carriers, tankers, etc.).
